Figure Drawing Week 2
This week, we studied the human skeleton, which provides structure to
the human body. Mrs. Jones, the Biology teacher, was nice enough to let
us borrow her full-sized skeleton model for the students to draw.
We started by doing quick, gestural sketches on newsprint.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, the students drew the
skeleton with white chalk on black paper. They did several sketches of
the whole figure, and then they chose a smaller part to focus in on.
On
Thursday, the students were given a piece of high-quality black drawing
paper and instructed to make a finished drawing of one part of the
skeleton. Some students focused on the ribcage or pelvis, while others
drew the hands or feet.
